Which One Should You Pick?
If the mess hasn't happened yet, rent the dumpster. If the pile already exists and you'd rather not touch it, send the junk removal crew. Either way it's the same Chattanooga team and one phone number: (423) 456-5242.
Renting means you're about to gut a kitchen, tear off a roof, or spend a few weekends on the garage. One flat price, and you fill it as the work happens. Sending the crew means they carry everything out and leave with it all in one visit. Describe the job and we'll point you at the one that actually fits, even when it's the cheaper one.
What Each Approach Actually Is
Dumpster rental: a container, your timeline
A roll-off container lands in your driveway with set tonnage already built into the price. The four sizes we run in Chattanooga are 10, 15, 20, and 23-yard. From there it's yours: load it at whatever pace the project sets, tonight or a week from Tuesday. Rentals run 3 to 14 days, with same-day and next-day delivery when the schedule has room. When you're done, we haul it away. Sooner than that, if you want an early pickup.
Full-service junk removal: a crew handles it all
Full-service is the opposite trade: you don't lift a thing. The crew shows up, walks the property with you, and carries everything out themselves. Garage, basement, top of the stairs, wherever it's been sitting. They load the truck, sweep the spot where the pile used to be, and leave with all of it the same day. Price is set by volume, meaning how much of the truck your items actually fill. You hear the estimate up front, before anything gets moved.
Who Each Option Actually Fits
Most people recognize their own project in one of these two lists.
Pick a dumpster if…
- Your project throws off debris over days or weeks, not all at once: a remodel, a roofing tear-off, a landscaping overhaul
- You or a contractor crew are doing the demo and don't mind loading the box yourselves
- You've got driveway or lot space to park a container for the rental period
- You want one flat, upfront rental price rather than paying by the load
- The timeline is loose: you're filling it at your own pace, not on one fixed day
Grab a crew if…
- The junk already exists as a finished pile right now: an estate cleanout, a garage that's been full for years, a move-out
- You'd rather not carry, lift, or load anything yourself
- The stuff is in a basement, upstairs, or somewhere a driveway dumpster can't reach
- You're on a deadline for a listing photo, a closing date, or a move, and need it gone in one visit
- You'd rather pay for the volume you actually have than rent a box you might not fill
Not sure? Call (423) 456-5242 and describe the job. We'll tell you straight which one fits.
What Are the Real Tradeoffs in Cost, Time, and Effort?
Neither one wins every time. Here's where each actually pulls ahead. Every number below is an estimate range we confirm on the call before you commit to anything.
| Dumpster rental | Full-service junk removal | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the lifting | You or your contractor. Every item, out to the box, on your own schedule. | The crew. You point, they carry it out from anywhere on the property and load it. |
| Time on your property | Roughly 3 to 14 days. The box sits while you fill it. | One visit. Walked through, loaded, swept, and gone the same day. |
| Estimate range | Roughly $225 to $450 for a 10-yard, up to $320 to $650 for a 23-yard, built-in tonnage included. | Roughly $79 to $150 for a single item, up to $450 to $800 for a full truck load. |
| Best for | Ongoing projects that generate debris over days or weeks: renovations, roofing, landscaping, a slow garage cleanout. | Cleanouts where the pile already exists and you want it handled in one visit: estate cleanouts, move-outs, furniture, appliances. |
| Hidden-fee risk | Low. The rental is upfront and honest, with tonnage already built into the price. | Low. The estimate is confirmed before loading starts, and what we estimate is what you pay. |
Quick rule: if it's already a pile today, crew it. If it's going to build up over days, rent a box. Full pricing details on the dumpster prices page or the junk removal cost page.
Three Questions That Settle It
1. Does the junk exist yet? If you're standing in front of a garage, basement, or estate that's already full, that's a one-visit job: full-service junk removal. If you're about to start ripping out a kitchen or stripping a roof, the debris hasn't happened yet. A dumpster parked for the duration makes more sense.
2. Can you or your crew do the carrying? A dumpster only saves money if someone's actually there to load it. If that's a contractor already on site for the remodel, the box is efficient. If it's you, alone, wrestling a houseful of furniture down a flight of stairs, the math tips toward paying a crew to do it instead.
3. Do you have somewhere to put the box? A dumpster needs driveway or lot space for the whole rental window. Between steep Signal Mountain driveways, tight older lots in Red Bank and St. Elmo, and HOA rules, plenty of Chattanooga properties just don't have it. No spot for the box points straight at a crew that shows up, loads, and leaves.
Answer those three and it's usually obvious. Stuck? Call (423) 456-5242 and describe the job. Same team, same number, both services. We'll tell you which one makes sense.
