Renovations leave a pile that grows faster than anyone plans for. Drywall, lumber, old cabinets, flooring, and the leftover bits of whatever came out of the wall. It is in the way of the next trade, and it is usually not allowed in the places homeowners normally dump.

This page is for homeowners and contractors with that pile: what we take, what we do not, and where disposal rules get in the way.

Debris removal is part of the same hauling service that handles everything else: the crew loads it, hauls it away and cleans up. You do not carry it to the curb.

What Are the Disposal Rules for Construction Debris Around Chattanooga?

This is where renovation loads get turned away. The City of Chattanooga's own pages say:

City of Chattanooga siteConstruction material it accepts or refuses
Refuse Collection CentersLumber, landscape timbers, vinyl and drywall (max 1 truck) accepted. Concrete, roofing materials, tile, insulation, asphalt and dirt, rock, brick or block not accepted. No contractors, businesses or landlords
City LandfillResidents may not use it for construction and demolition waste such as building material, dirt, block, rock or wood waste
Birchwood II, LLCThe City page says it operates the adjacent private construction and demolition landfill. No fees or hours listed

The City Refuse Collection Centers do not allow contractors, businesses or landlords at all. That leaves a contractor with a few options: a private disposal facility, a rented dumpster, or a crew that hauls the load. These are the City of Chattanooga's rules, read on October 13, 2026. Other facilities may differ, so check before you load. The dump and recycling guide has the links.

Crew Hauling or Dumpster Rental for a Renovation?

It depends on how the work flows. If debris comes out all at once, such as a tear-out day or a finished remodel, a crew that loads the truck for you is simpler. If it builds up over days or weeks, a dumpster rental on site may fit better.

We rent dumpsters too. See dumpster rental and dumpster prices for sizes, and the comparison page if you are deciding.

How Do You Get a Debris Pile Ready for Removal?

  1. Gather it in one place. A garage, driveway or one room. It saves loading time.
  2. Separate the things that cannot go. Paint, chemicals and anything hazardous. The cannot-take list tells you what.
  3. Mention the stairs. A basement tear-out and a driveway pile are different jobs.
  4. Tell us what else is going. Old furniture, appliances and yard debris are things we haul too.

Same-day and next-day service are available. Pricing follows the space the load takes in the truck, explained on the cost page.

What Do People Ask About Debris Removal in Chattanooga?

Do you do construction debris removal in Chattanooga?
Yes. We remove renovation and construction debris such as wood, drywall and other materials, along with light and interior demolition debris, and we clean up the area afterward.
What kinds of renovation debris do you take?
Wood, lumber and drywall, kitchen and bathroom demolition debris, old sheds and decks, and yard debris and brush. Old furniture and appliances are things we haul too, so they can ride along with a remodel pile.
Do you take concrete or do whole-structure demolition?
No. Concrete removal, excavation and whole-structure demolition are not work we take on. We do light and interior demolition debris. Call and describe the load, and we will tell you straight whether it fits.
Can I take construction debris to the City refuse center?
Not as a contractor, business or landlord, since the City says none of those are allowed. For residents, the City accepts items like lumber and drywall (max 1 truck) but not concrete, roofing, tile, insulation or dirt, rock, brick or block.
Can I dump renovation debris at the City Landfill?
The City says residents may not use the City Landfill for construction and demolition waste. The City page notes Birchwood II, LLC operates the adjacent private construction and demolition landfill, with no fees or hours listed there.
Should I rent a dumpster or have a crew haul the debris?
A crew suits a one-time pile, such as a tear-out day or a finished remodel. A dumpster suits debris that builds up over days or weeks. We do both, and the comparison page helps you decide.
How fast can you remove construction debris?
Same-day and next-day service are available. Call to check availability, and describe the pile, the stairs and the access so the estimate can be given quickly.
What does debris removal cost in Chattanooga?
Pricing follows the space the load takes in the truck, and you get an upfront estimate before any work begins. The junk removal cost page explains the load sizes, and a free estimate is one phone call away.
Do you remove old sheds and decks?
Yes, shed removal and deck removal are jobs we take. Tell us the size, what it is built from and how the crew reaches it when you call, and ask for a free estimate.
What can't go in a debris load?
Paint, chemicals and other hazardous material cannot ride the truck. The what junk removal cannot take page has the full list, so separate those items before the crew arrives.
What should I do before the crew arrives to remove debris?
Gather the debris in one place such as a garage, driveway or one room, set aside anything hazardous, and mention stairs or tight access when you call. It saves loading time and keeps the estimate accurate.
